2018 – Present

After more than two decades building and leading technology organizations, I stepped into a high school classroom by choice. The goal was to see the industry-education gap from the other side — and to do something about it from the inside. What I found there shapes everything I write and consult on today.

  • Produced the highest AP Computer Science Principles scores in Texas and globally — 2024–25 school year
  • Designed and launched a 6-week Python Programming curriculum that measurably accelerated freshman success in advanced programming courses
  • Created a real-time, real-world defect tracking experience for students participating in a district AI pilot program
  • Consulted with District Leadership on year-long technology curricula and evaluation of CS EdTech platforms
  • Managed multi-grade (9–12) classrooms across 10 course preparations with consistently high engagement and achievement
  • Sponsored the National Technology Honor Society; managed chapter finances and mentored student leadership

Independent Consulting
Soverex, Inc. — Founder & Principal
Austin, TX · 2001 – 2018

For seventeen years I ran an independent consulting firm focused on organizational transformation, technology modernization, and leadership development. Clients ranged from energy utilities to oilfield services companies to government agencies to startups. The work was varied; the through-line was always the same — helping organizations close the gap between what they were capable of and what they were actually delivering.

Lower Colorado River Authority — IT Operations Transformation

Transformed LCRA’s IT operations to a CI/CD model: Agile methodologies, Jira, Slack, DevOps strategy, cloud migration. Results included a 50%+ reduction in face-to-face meetings, an 88% reduction in enterprise system upgrade downtime, and a 75% reduction in project intake volume through collaborative prioritization.

National Oilwell Varco — $12M Product Line Recovery

Recovered $12M by turning around a failing product line. Mentored remote managers, united conflicting teams, and executed a corporate-wide leadership training program.

Perceptive Sciences — Startup Turnaround

Generated a 20% increase in net income through cost-accounting analysis and new business strategy development. Returned the startup to profitability.

Texas DIR — Process Improvement

Identified critical flaws in four failed state projects, proposed and executed a process improvement initiative whose results enabled the hiring Director to be promoted.

Momentum Technical Consulting — Revenue Recovery

Secured an 18% revenue increase by recovering a key customer relationship and the firm’s reputation. Worked directly with the CEO on corporate strategy, sales, marketing, R&D, and operations.

Speaking & Advisory — 30+ clients

Delivered keynotes and seminars on leadership, management, public speaking, conflict resolution, performance evaluation, and project management. Advised executives on conference addresses, trade show presentations, and career development.
